The Role

Endeavour Federation is looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Lead Teaching Assistant, Pupil Wellbeing, to join our Senior Leadership Team at Southern Cross School. You will fully participate in the life of the school, assisting where needed, supporting our most vulnerable pupils. We want candidates who are able to see the possibilities of all our exceptional learners and allow them to thrive. 


As a senior lead for Pupil Wellbeing, you will play a critical role in promoting and supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of our students. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement effective strategies that ensure the overall wellbeing of our pupils.


The role will involve:

  • Promoting the Federation values of positivity, understanding and personalised
  • Being able to support and manage challenging behaviour effectively following our Behaviour Regulation Policy and Therapeutic Framework
  • Being the lead in implementing Federation initiatives of Peaceful Resolutions, Restorative Practice and Hacking for Behaviour
  • Maintaining a caring, orderly community in which effective learning can take place and where there is mutual respect between members and take responsibility for managing the function of the behaviour support room
  • Helping children develop a sense of worth, identity and achievement
  • Ensuring that staff are set up on IRIS and use it appropriately and with accuracy
  • Using IRIS data management to inform good practice and ensure SLT debriefs are completed in a timely manner
  • Leading on whole school attendance strategies
  • Supporting children to develop their emotional regulation skills, which in turn will impact upon their ability to regulate their behaviour
  • Supporting all children to learn effective, safe, ways of communicating their needs
  • Helping all children to become self-disciplined, able to accept responsibility for their own actions and make positive choices
  • Developing in all children the ability to listen to others; cooperate and to appreciate other ways of thinking and behaving
  • Working with parents to support pupil’s learning
  • Line Manage a number of Teaching Assistants and ensure they meet at least the satisfactory level in the Teaching Assistant standard and assist with the induction of new staff


The successful applicant will:

  • Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Be a confident decision maker
  • Have a sound knowledge of safeguarding framework and regulations
  • Be confident working with external agencies
  • Be directly answerable to the Headteacher and undertake tasks as directed
  • Possess good literacy and communication skills in challenging environments for report writing
  • Be flexible in their approach to work
  • Be either proficient in the Team Teach model or willing to undertake the necessary training
  • Possess emotional resilience due to the nature of the work
  • Be able to build and maintain strong pupil relationships
  • Take an active role in their own supervision
